With doubleXposure, painter Philip Royce Earnhart and photographer Remo Neuhaus present a joint exhibition project at the Klub am Bärenplatz that explores the intersection of photography and painting. The starting point is large-format photographic portraits of cultural and other icons such as Polo Hofer, Büne Huber, Züri West, Joss Stone, Jael Mallli, Andreas Caminada, Stephan Eicher, Endo Anaconda, Müslüm, Matthias Glarner, Gui Hoarau, Lo & Leduc, Roman Josi, Ditaji Kambundji and Nick Hayek Jr.
These images are painted over, altered, and emotionally charged by Philip Royce Earnhart. The result is a unique work of art created from a photographic document. The painterly intervention opens up a space between outward appearance and inner essence, between public image and subjective perception. doubleXposure questions authorship, identity, and the treatment of icons—and asks what happens when an image is not left untouched.
Half of the proceeds will go to Hannes Schmid's Smiling Gecko Foundation.
